The speaker will be Moraga Kiwanis Club member Dr. Jim O'Brient, who will give a talk on " Mauna Loa / Mauna Kea: The Tallest Mountain on Earth."
He will give a quick geologic review of the history of the Hawaiian Island chain and the formation of the Big Island and its currently active volcanoes that make up the tallest standing mountains in the world that, believe it or not, tower over the world renowned Mt. Everest, if measured properly from base to summit. You won’t believe how high they really are!!
